Our area is under a flash flood watch for the second straight day. Parts of the region have seen between 4 to 7 inches of rain in the past few days leading to saturated ground and the enhanced risk of flooding.
The tropics are also becoming quite busy. 3 distinct tropical waves are being tracked. One is very near the Cape Verde Islands and shows the best promise for development. Another system... formally tropical depression 2... is in the central Atlantic and has the chance of re-development. And finally... a tropical wave between the Caribbean Islands and Bahamas is being monitored... but is unlikely to develop.
With the weather in a upturn... you might be interested in the state’s Ready Georgia campaign to learn about preparing and planning for these types of situations.
The Ready Georgia Web site was created by Georgia Emergency Management Agency and the state’s top emergency officials specifically for Georgia residents. It offers users a customizable Ready kit checklist and family communications plan that is tailor-made for each household. Information about planning for, preparing for and responding to flooding is available at http://www.ready.ga.gov/Stay-Informed/Floods-and-Flash-Floods.
It will provide with valuable resources for preparing in case you are impacted by flooding. Check it out... and have a great weekend!
