Air France Flight 358...it was a flight from Paris, France, to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The flight started fine. But when it tried to land in a powerful storm, all went wrong.
Witnesses say lightning may have struck the plane.
The Greater Toronto Airport authorities say it issued a "red alert" ground stop during much of the afternoon before the crash "due to extreme weather conditions which resulted in the postponement of departing aircraft."
But this "red alert" wasn't issued at the time of this landing.
The jetliner skidded off the runway, smashed into a gully and then burst into flames.
Two passengers said the lights went out in the plane's cabin just before landing. One passenger, who was in the full aircraft's last row, said the plane went up and down like a roller coaster after it touched the runway and was already burning when it came to a stop.
Remarkably, all 297 passengers and 12 crew members survived the crash.
Flight attendants quickly ushered passengers to emergency exit chutes. There were only reports of 24 people with minor injuries.
