Lately, my eye has been twitching and my neck has been stiff. Is it stress? Or could it be a sign that I am getting sick?
One close friend said...uh oh...you have a crick in your neck? I bet you're getting sick.
Is he right?
Well, I enjoy researching. I don't mind how long it takes to find the information that I need. But in this case, I didn't find anything to support these claims.
But I did stumble upon some good advice.
As the weather cools, the sniffles are descending upon workers across the country. And many are showing up to work that way.
Actually, many show up to work with a lot more than the sniffles. Some are on the clock with a temperature, and many show up to work even when they are contagious.
(I am guilty of it myself)
Let's face it...it is sometimes difficult to find a replacement. But we must remember that sick leave exists for a reason.
When you're ill, you'll more than likely perform poorly. You also pose a risk to the other people in your workplace.
But how do you know when you're sick enough to call in?
1. A high fever. If you have a high fever---or above 101---don't go to work.
2. A very sore throat
3. A cough. A minor cough can be due to allergies or minor irritants. But if you have a cough plus aches and a fever, you may have a cold. A severe cough along with mucus or shortness of breath can be a sign of bronchitis or pneumonia.
4. Stomach problems. If you can't hold down food, don't go to work.
5. Pinkeye. This is highly contagious.
