There's an historic drought that is gripping Texas.  It has taken an incredible toll on the state this year, and it has led to some surprising and unusual findings.

"Ghost towns" have been exposed.

Here's what's been found so far...pieces of history ranging from graves dating back to the 1800s to ancient tools, a prehistoric skull and fossils.

Experts believe some Native American tools and fossils that have been found in shrinking lakes could be thousands of years old.

An American Indian skull was determined by experts to have been buried for hundreds or thousands of years.

Texas has had its driest summer and driest January-August period ever on record this year.
