Alaska is usually known for being a snow haven. But that is not the case right now.
When you pick up 18 feet of snow in about a month's time, sometimes it is just too much.
The town of Valdez got 66.9 inches of snow between Jan. 1 and 9. That is 99 percent of the town's normal snowfall for the whole month of January.
The National Guard headed to Cordova, a fishing town in southeastern Alaska, to dig people out from massive snowfall.
Here is the problem. This time of year, coastal Alaska areas normally see rain, not snow.
And now there is another storm. This storm will bring heavy snow and strong winds. Valdez could pick up another 1 to 2 feet of snow through Wednesday.
With this kind of snow and possible wind gusts up to 60mph, there could be structural damage to buildings.
