Bitter doesn't even begin to describe how cold it is in Alaska.
On Sunday, it was 49 degrees below zero in Fairbanks. So as you can imagine, local leaders are urging people to stay home and hunker down.
Even if Alaskans decide to step outside, they're told to bring along an emergency kit.
But now there is a debate.
An amateur weather station for the Alaska Department of Transportation at Jim's River, Alaska, measured a temperature of 79 degrees below zero!!!! This is one degree below the all-time U.S. low temperature record of 80 degrees below zero.
Now experts are wondering about the accuracy...and I am sure a decision will soon be made.
