Travelers by land and sea into and from the U.S. need to show more ID starting January 31st.
Canadians and American citizens will have to show proof of citizenship like a birth certificate, and a photo ID like a driver's license, but a requirement for land and sea travelers to show a passport won't go into effect until June of 2009.
Air travelers already have to show a valid passport.
