SAVANNAH, Ga. (May 29, 2008) – The Memorial University Medical Center Board of Directors has named John Angstadt, M.D., senior vice president over physician services. Angstadt has been a surgeon at MUMC since 2001. He is medical director of Memorial Health Bariatrics and a member of the Savannah Colon and Rectal Surgery practice.
As senior vice president, physician services, Angstadt will serve as a liaison between MUMC and physicians throughout the community. He will address concerns raised by doctors and work to ensure that their needs are met at Memorial. Angstadt will also oversee financial and operational management of Memorial Health University Physicians (MHUP), the area’s largest physician practice group. The MHUP network includes 35 primary and specialty care practices throughout the region, operated by more than 100 physicians.
Angstadt is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and completed his residency and fellowship training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Angstadt has published numerous articles and is frequently asked to share his expertise through lectures and other speaking engagements.
