Savannah, GA - This past Fall, high school Seniors at over 35 schools in 19 Georgia counties learned that having perfect attendance would make them eligible to win a new 2009 Chevy Cobalt sedan this May 16, 2009. An anticipated 500 students faithfully attended all 180 days during the school year, and two will be rewarded with the new cars on Saturday, May 16 from 6PM - 8 pm at the Roundhouse Railroad Museum.
In its first year in Georgia, Drive For Perfection is an initiative presented by the Savannah Chevrolet Dealers in conjunction with the local School Boards, and was created to give Seniors an additional incentive to finish their high school careers strong in order to adequately prepare for post-secondary education or the workforce.
“Literacy and education are two initiatives that the Local Chevrolet Dealers champion through their support of several initiatives in the Southeast region,” said Jane Vaden Thatcher, President of the Savannah Chevrolet Local Marketing Association. “The local School Boards is charged with the significant task of educating the state’s youth, and our local Chevy dealers are honored to provide support to them and high schools in their communities.”
Perfect attendance was determined by an eligible student’s attendance record for the first 180 days of the 2008-2009 school year as submitted by the Local Education Agencies. In order to select the winners, final lists were developed with eligible students from all school’s and the grand prize event is being held at the Roundhouse Railroad Museum on Saturday, May 16, 2009. All qualified seniors must be present for the reverse drawing to win one of two Chevrolet Cobalt’s. The one-hour drawing will occur at 6:30 for the following counties: Allendale, Appling, Beaufort, Calhoun, Clarendon, Fairfield, Hampton (District 1 and 2), Jeff Davis, Lee, Lexington (Districts 1, 2, 3, and 5), Liberty, Long, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland (District 1 and 2), Saluda, Sumter (District 2 and 17), Tattnall and Wayne.
