Sick of the drama between Obama and McCain?
Kevin Costner produced and stars in "Swing Vote" in theaters this weekend.
Swing Vote is an interesting movie, and sometimes funny, sometimes dramatic.
It stars Kevin Costner who also produced.
He plays a New Mexico Joe six pack single dad, unemployed, but taking care after a fashion of his pre-teen daughter in their trailer home.
She is played by young Madeline Carol, no relation to the namesake British actress of the 1930s.
It seems the presidential election has found New Mexico’s five votes will be the ones that decide the next chief executive.
But the popular vote there is tied, and his vote wasn't yet counted due to a malfunction of a voting machine.
Sound familiar.
So he will choose the next commander in chief when he finally casts his vote.
Dennis Hopper of all people is the democratic challenger and he's convincing too.
And Nathan Lane is his savvy campaign manager.
On the GOP side, Kelsey Grammer is well cast as the slightly pompous but agreeable incumbent, and Stanley Tucci his manager and here, father and daughter have responded to an invitation to visit air force one.
"Despite some lulls in its pacing, swing vote is an intelligent Jimmy Stewart-like story of an everyman thrust on to the world's stage. Kevin Costner’s portrayal is masterful and little Madeline Carol shows skills far beyond her tender years. The premise, while unlikely, is at least plausible and the message of this film is, every vote counts,” said movie critic Jeffrey Lyons.
