Vicky Christina Review

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Woody Allen’s latest film hits theaters this weekend.

This one stars one of Allen’s favorite actresses, Scarlett Johansson.

"Vicky Christina Barcelona" also stars title players Rebecca Hall along with Scarlett Johansson as American tourists summering in Barcelona, living with an American couple.

Here they meet a Bohemian painter, played by Javier Bardem.

And he makes no bones about his intentions.

Now Vicky, played well by English actress Hall, is the more conservative of the duo, wise to the painter's intentions, engaged back home and refusing to fall to temptation.

Ah but Christina is more open to advances, and believes love involves taking chances and suffering, if need be.

Penelope Cruz, currently in the brilliant drama "Elegy" here co-stars as Bardem's fiery ex-wife and she could get Oscar nominated for both movies.

Movie critic Jeffrey Lyons said Vicky Christina Barcelona" is Woody Allen’s best in years. Its breezy style, an homage to Pedro Almodovar, Allen's wry observations about love and life, and use of Barcelona as a gorgeous backdrop will have you booking a flight there tomorrow.
