Steve Carell takes on the title role of bumbling agent Maxwell Smart in an updated version of "Get Smart" based on the 1960's TV series.
Steve Carell says "I remember it growing up and I was too young to understand all of the political humor in it that, the satire, but I knew it was funny."
Anne Hathaway plays agent 99.
Anne Hathaway says "back in the original because of the, it was just the morals of the time it was uh 99 was a woman in a man's world. Now it's just the workplace, but and back then she could keep up with the boys, now women can set the pace, so I thought that was very cool.
Coming from the "Daily Show," Steve has a lot of political humor and this not too far off.
Steve Carell says "yeah, I mean I think anything like that is fair game, and it's fun, and I mean and that's and not too put too fine a point on it but that's one of the great things about living here in America that we can do that, we can get away with it, we can poke fun at our leaders, we can and uh and have fun."
"Get smart" also co-stars Dwayne Johnson, James Caan, and Oscar winner Alan Arkin. It's in theaters Friday.
