A quartet of new films open nationally this weekend: A pair of comedies, a spooky animated tale and a suspense thriller.
Ricky Gervais sees dead people in the new comedy "Ghost Town".
It's one of the nagging side effects of dying himself for seven minutes.
Turns out most of the ghosts Gervais sees all want something from him.
In the case of Greg Kinnear, it's breaking up the impending marriage of his widow, played by Tea Leoni.
That lands Gervais in a love triangle.
"Ghost Town" is rated PG-13.
Kate Hudson's the focal point for another love triangle in "My Best Friend's Girl".
Jason Biggs' is the love struck suitor who's scared Hudson off.
He turns to his best friend, Dane Cook.
He's a master at seducing and then offending women, creating dates so awful that the women wind up going back to their old boyfriends.
Trouble is, Cook's dubious charms have the opposite effect on Hudson, who falls for him.
"My Best Friend's Girl" is rated PG-13.
Halloween is a few weeks away, but "Igor" brings forth the Halloween spirit.
John Cusack lends his voice as a lowly lab assistant who gets his chance to succeed at the annual Evil Science Fair.
But instead of churning out the ultimate evil intention, Cusack builds a sweet misfit who wouldn't hurt a fly.
She may have to though when a really evil plot threatens the world.
"Igor" is rated PG-13.
Evil comes a badge in the thriller "Lakeview Terrace".
Samuel L. Jackson plays a tightly wound Los Angeles police officer who's disapproves of the interracial couple who've moved in next door.
Patrick Wilson and Kerry Washington play the couple, who find themselves on the receiving end of Jackson's harassment.
Things go from bad to worse when the couple fights back.
"Lakeview Terrace" is rated R.
