The signature color of the broadway show "Wicked" is green. Not just because of all the money the show has earned, but also because the color of the main star, the green skinned witch "Elphaba". Playing "Elphaba" means enduring an extensive green makeup job before every performance.

Backstage where "Wicked" is currently playing in San Diego, actress Donna Vivino is undergoing the metamorphosis. It's a whole new twist to 'going green'.

"It's part of my gig, just part of the job", said Vivino as she is literally painted green.

"A lot of people think we airbrush or spray her green", said makeup artist Craig Jessup as he brushes green makeup along Vivino's face and neck. He'll go through a container of green makeup each month. The half hour long transformation also includes green nails.

"Definitely helps me get into character!", said Vivino.

But there are a few occupational hazards. "I'm used to having a little green in my hair line and on my skin", Vivino said.

"Wicked" has toured over 30 cities in the US and Canada since taken the show on the road in 2005.
