Fans' donations can help budding musicians

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Country Music Association is asking fans at next week's CMA Music Festival to help put instruments in the hands of schoolchildren.

The CMA and the Nashville Alliance for Public Education are encouraging fans to bring long-forgotten, gently used band instruments to the Hall of Fame Park during the festival, which opens Thursday and runs through Sunday.

The instruments will be donated to Nashville schools to supplement thousands of new instruments already purchased by the CMA with funds from the Music Festival.

Country singer Jimmy Wayne will be on hand Thursday to help volunteers collect instruments at the Dr Pepper-McDonald's Family Zone in the Hall of Fame Park.
