Spring is finally here, so head outside and celebrate the return of all there is to enjoy about the season – that is, unless you suffer from springtime allergies. If high pollen levels or other allergens are keeping you from enjoying the great outdoors, you can find some much needed relief by making some simple changes inside your home:
-Keep windows closed whenever possible, to keep pollen from circulating in your home or car.
-Use protective covers for mattresses, box springs and pillows.
-Pollen clings to fabric and hair. Keep your clothes and hair as pollen-free as possible by washing your hair before you go to bed and by changing your clothes after being exposed to pollen.
-Avoid being outside from late morning to early afternoon, when pollen counts are at their highest.
If you take prescription medication for your allergies, keep in mind that some over-the-counter allergy remedies may work as well as prescription drugs, so discuss the options with your doctor.
