The Power of Vitamin D

»  Comments | Post a Comment

According to Health Magazine, high doses of Vitamin D can give your immune system a powerful boost.  Already valued as a proven bone-builder, doses of 1,000 to 2,000 international units (IU) of Vitamin D may strengthen your body's ability to fight infections and may lower your risk of developing autoimmune diseases like multiple sclerosis.

The recommended daily amount of Vitamin D is 200 IU for adults younger than 50.  A cup of milk has 100 IU, so it's easy to work Vitamin D into your day.  You may need to take a vitamin supplement to achieve Vitamin D's full potential.  Check with your doctor before you start any vitamin supplement regimen, to ensure that the vitamins you plan to take will not interfere with any medications you are taking or produce any unwanted side effects.
