»  Comments | Post a Comment

”My self esteem is pretty low right now and I'm just sick of it. I'm ready to get it off.” Kyle Warnock spoke two months ago about wanting to lose weight.

“And you can do it, you know that right?” said News 3’s Randi Hempel.

“Oh, I know I can do it. Definitely.” He responded.

That was Kyle Warnock two months ago, telling 3 on your side’s Randi Hempel he wanted to lose weight and get in shape. We went to his first training session with a personal trainer and owner of You Need Fitness, Derek Frazier, who was it working with him for free, all in an effort to combat the growing obesity rate in children and teens.

Kyle left the couch, the TV and video games and is still working out hard.

“My legs are sore. We just got done doing sprints Sunday and I'm still feeling the legs after about 2 or 3 days and my arms are killing me.” Kyle spoke to Randi on Wednesday.

But Kyle knows it's no pain, no gain.

News 3”s Randi Hempel takes you to another of Kyle's training sessions and show's us how he's working to improve his life.

Sit ups, cardio and pumping iron have 16-year old Kyle Warnock reaching to new heights. He's noticing changes in more than just his weight and inches lost.

"I have a better self esteem and I believe in myself more.” Says Kyle.

“It has just blown me away his level of energy he's more active he is more outgoing and motivated is the ideal word and I'm gonna tell you, Derek, he's a God send.” Says Mary Kilpatrick, Kyle’s mother.

“He's experienced at least a 30 % increase in strength, stamina, endurance.” Says personal trainer and owner of You Need Fitness, Derek Frazier.

While Kyle's training with Derek 5 days a week, that's not all he's doing to work toward his transformation. He's also exercising at home and changing his eating habits.

“I'm not eating any more junk food, not much sugar.” Says Kyle, “a lot of vegetables and fruits.”

“This is a kid who used to eat Jethro bowls of cereal, and not just one.” Says Mary.

“My legs are sore.” Continues Kyle.

But it's worth it.

“Having a physical culture will enable him to move through life better.” Says Derek.

“It builds muscle and at the end I guess, the finished result will be a lot better than it is now.” Adds Kyle.

Kyle and Derek also formed a friendship and mentorship where both have learned from each other. Derek is working to start a foundation that will help overweight and out of shape kids.
