A weekend cookout got out of control at a home in Columbia, South Carolina.
Six apartments were destroyed and 12 others were damaged on Sunday, when high wind blew over a grill being used to cook barbecue.
The hot coals fell on some nearby straw and the fire spread quickly after that.
According to Columbia Fire officials, the man cooking tried to put out the fire but couldn't.
Damage estimates are in excess of half a million dollars.
