Savannah Hokies VirginiaTechforlife Blood Drive
with the American Red Cross and St. Vincent’s Academy
The Savannah Hokies (Virginia Tech Alumni Chapter) will be participating in the VirginiaTechforlife Blood Drive, an outreach effort of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association, on April 16, 2008. During the month of April, Virginia Tech alumni chapters across the nation will be participating in this service-oriented event to honor the 32 victims who died on April 16, 2007.
Join the Savannah Hokies as we partner with the American Red Cross and St. Vincent’s Academy for a blood drive on April 16, at St. Vincent’s Academy in downtown Savannah (207 E. Liberty St.) from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. If you are unable to make it to St. Vincent’s, the American Red Cross Donation Center on Abercorn (25 Tibet Ave.) will accept donations between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on April 16. Please call 1-800-Give-Life to make an appointment. Appointments receive priority, but walk-ins are certainly welcome.
Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood, and more than 38,000 blood donations are needed on a daily basis. Every single donation can save up to three lives. Your blood donation will remain in the state of Georgia, helping those in need. Blood has a shelf life of just 42 days, so donations are constantly needed.
“Members of the Savannah Hokies Alumni Chapter have Virginia Tech as a common bond, but first we are members of our local communities,” said Carmen Stowers of the Savannah Hokies. “We are grateful to St. Vincent’s Academy and the American Red Cross for partnering with us to make a difference in our community as we honor the 32 Hokies lost on 4/16/07.”
