Deputies in Charleston County, South Carolina say a couple driving on a lonely road have been killed after an oak tree fell on their truck.
Authorities called what happened Tuesday a freak accident.
Witnesses say the man driving the truck appeared to see the tree start to fall and slam on the brakes, but the tree smashed into the cab of the pickup.
The tree's roots may have been weakened by clearing land in the area, or recent dry weather.
The couple's names have not been released.
