An update on Stephen Alexander Bell, the registered sex offender who went missing after his ankle tracking bracelet was cut off and found on Tybee Island on Monday:
Bell faces charges for violating his probation and registered sex offender rules.
He's 5’6” tall, with brown hair and blue eyes.
We're told he has a Jolly Roger tattoo on his left shoulder.
We spoke with Major Terry Enoch at the Chatham County Sheriff's Office today and he says neighbors should not be worried and that he is confident they will find Bell soon. He said that shortly after news stations aired their tip-line number, they started getting leads.
Major Terry Enoch, Chatham County Sheriff’s Office Enforcement Operations Administrator:
"I'm very optimistic that we are going to find Mr. Bell. We have some information that I think is going to lead to his arrest. I'm hoping that it will happen in the near future."
Although he's not dangerous, Major Enoch has advice for anyone who may see bell:
Major Terry Enoch, Chatham County Sheriff’s Office Enforcement Operations Administrator:
"I wouldn't approach him; I wouldn't try to make a citizen's arrest, but to contact the police immediately."
Anyone with information on where Bell could be should call the Chatham County Sheriff's Office Sex Offender Registry and Tracking Unit at 912 -652-7697.
