There are many ways to show your support for the troops.
A group of military wives out of Fort Stewart has come up with one you probably haven't seen before. News Three’s Military Reporter Alice Massimi has more on how these ladies are using their creative skills to show they care.
Charity Parker says she got the idea from a friend... It's a fairly simple concept, bracelets made out of military supplies.
“The button is from an ACU, BDU, DCU uniform and the cord is 550 cord. It is para cord they use it for parachutes they use it to tie down things,” explains Charity Parker.
But what they stand for goes much deeper, the knots represent unity and each button a soldier. Charity, Amy and 10 year old Bailey have already spent many hours making the bracelets.
“It kind of shows that I support them and that my dad is in Iraq. The fact that I make these makes me proud,” says Bailey while she works on one of the bracelets.
In addition to making the bracelets for people to wear here and abroad, the bracelets can be found adorning some of the trees at warriors walk.
“The 4 guys we lost last summer, we started putting them on those and then ever since we started losing more people I've been putting more on those,” says Charity.
While they started out just placing the bracelets on the trees from their husbands unit they've now set a goal of placing one on every tree.
“It’s hard and it’s emotional because of why you have to put them on there. There are close to 400 trees on warriors walk so it is hard,” says
“It is just something I felt needed to be done because the bracelets mean so much to me,” adds Charity.
