About 500 Irish Dancers gathered today in Savannah for a Feis, or Irish Dance competition.
The dancers came from all over the United States and as far away as Canada and Ireland to compete in the "Historic Savannah Feis". The ages ranged from children to adults and they danced all day. This is the third year that the Irish Dancers of Savannah have held the competition and they say they love it.
So how do these competitors get into Irish Dancing?
Devin McDermott, Been Doing Irish Dance for Two Years:
"My sister started about four months before I did and I went to one of her practices and I saw that it was really cool looking so I decided I wanted to try it.
Sydney Smith, Three-Year Irish Dancer:
I started watching River Dance and I thought it was pretty neat how all the steps were and I thought that it would be cool, so, I just found Antrim Academy and I just joined."
The Savannah competition is just one of many Irish dancing competitions that go on through out the year with the world competition held every year in Ireland.
