Long before the TV, microwave and 35 millimeter camera, came a little girl who would later become an inspiration to all who know her. A century later, Lowcountry reporter Holly Bounds shares the story of Anna Kubita.
"I was born August 6th, 1908."
A head of silver, a heart of gold and a smile that sparkles like diamonds. Celebrating 100 years with her closest friends and family, Anna Kubita says the gift of longevity comes quite easy.
"Well, I don't know what the secret is really. Just living good, eating good and listening to the doctor."
Known around riverside at Belfair as "speedy," her nickname has nothing to do with wheels on a car.
"She never drove a car. My dad tried to teach her and I guess she went a little too fast and said nope that's it."
But you could say she's done a fine job of keeping between the lines and she hopes others will follow her direction.
"Just take care of yourself. Do what is good for your body."
