Sheriff Asks for Patience in Heidt Case

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A high profile murder investigation in Effingham County that's gone on for three months is prompting Sheriff Jimmie McDuffie to ask the public for patience.

On august 25th, 59-year-old Philip Heidt and his 32-year-old son Carey were found shot and killed in the family home near Springfield.

Philip’s wife, 58-year-old Linda Heidt, was seriously wounded and is still recovering from her wounds.

Sheriff McDuffie recently wrote a letter to the editor saying he understands the desire for a speedy resolution, but that investigators need every resource possible to ensure that justice will be carried out.

He also says there is nothing in this investigation that causes them to believe that anyone else is in harm's way.

Duffy says releasing more details may undermine the investigation.
