Best friends since childhood Billy Snider was shocked when Danny Johnson was killed in February of 2003.
“Danny was a great guy and his life was taken from him when it shouldn't have been for something stupid,” says Billy of his friend.
An act many called senseless.
“We went over to 3709 Montgomery Street which was B and R Motors at the time. We went over because we got a call of injured person but when we got over there we found it was more than that,” explains SGT Andre Jackson of SCMPD Violent Crimes Unit.
Police say Johnson was shot and killed over a car-- which was found an hour later on Savannah's East Side.
“They worked the case until all the leads ran out at that time the case became a cold case,” says Jackson.
Through the years Billy and others did all they could to keep the case alive. Billboards went up. Flyers were sent out. But an arrest was never made.
5 years later the police got a break, the gun used in an unrelated incident also used in 2003 is the same gun police believe was used in Johnson's murder.
The man they traced the gun to... Torrey Javon Graham... was already in jail on armed robbery charges.
Wednesday a Chatham County Grand Jury indicted Graham on murder, armed robbery, and various gun charges.
“I know Danny is looking down upon us and he cant speak to us but I know that in some way he is telling me you know I’m glad this has come to an end and the guy has been caught,”
Bringing some closure to those who cared for Johnson so deeply.
Torrey Graham is currently being held in the Calhoun State Prison. He will be extradited to Chatham County Detention Center when he is current sentence is up in 2018.
