A Soldier with 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team will be awarded the Purple Heart medal at a ceremony 9 a.m. Friday, December 5th at Marne Garden in Ft. Stewart, Georgia.
Spc. Danny Segui, an infantryman, will be presented the medal by Maj. Gen Tony Cucolo, commander of 3rd Infantry Division. Also in attendance will be Division Command Sergeant Major Jesse Andrews and guest speaker, Georgia’s 12th Congressional District Representative, Congressman John Barrow.
Segui was wounded in Nov. 2007 while conducting a combat patrol in downtown Baghdad. He was a gunner in a humvee when his vehicle was struck by an explosively formed projectile. He returned from his 15 month deployment in July 2008.
