Since the cost of checking luggage seems to constantly be changing and the prices vary depending on the airline we have compiled the latest information for you:
Delta Airlines
When traveling within the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, or Puerto Rico you can currently check one bag, per passenger, free of charge. However, customers who purchased a ticket on or after November 6, 2008, for travel on or after December 5, 2008, our checked bags fees will be changing to $15 for the first bag and $25 for the second bag.
When traveling to or from cities outside the United States you can check two bags, per passenger, free of charge.

US Airways
US Airways will assess a $15 fee for passengers’ first checked bags. If you purchased a ticket before July 9, the first bag fee won’t apply. We also now charge $25 for all second checked bags. The checked bag policies apply to all flights to and from Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as flights within the U.S.
Airports that offer Curbside check-in will assess a $2 Curbside check-in fee in addition to all checked baggage fees incurred (credit card payments only, gratuities not accepted).

Continental Airlines
Continental has made recent changes to the policy regarding fees associated with your first checked bag. Effective Oct. 7, 2008 there will be a $15 fee required on tickets purchased on or after Sept. 6, 2008 for travel within the 50 U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada.
Continental implemented a $25 fee for customers checking a second bag when traveling on Economy fare tickets purchased on or after April 5, 2008 for travel within the 50 U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada.
The $25 fee also applies when traveling on Economy fare tickets purchased on or after May 8, 2008 between Mexico, Bahamas, Caribbean, Central and South America* (excluding Brazil) and the 50 U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada.
