GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A group of emergency room doctors has given South Carolina a "C" for how it handles emergency medicine.
The Greenville News reports that the American College of Emergency Physicians praised the state for its quality of care and liability. But it flunked South Carolina on access to emergency care and injury prevention.
The report card released earlier this month says the state needs more emergency room doctors and better access to mental health services.
Greenville Hospital System Emergency Medicine Chairman Dr. William Finn says the survey accurately reflects conditions in South Carolina.
The "C" grade in the report ranks the state 26th in the nation.
