A $100,000 cash bond was set for Ryan S. Cudlip this morning at a Beaufort County bond hearing. Cudlip can post ten percent to be released from the Beaufort County Detention Center. The judge stated that if Cudlip is released, he will be allowed to travel to Chatham County to work as a Savannah firefighter.
Cudlip has been arrested in the death of a bicyclist in Bluffton. The incident happened Thursday, December 25th on Bluffton Parkway between Simmonsville Road and Buck Island Road. Investigators say the bicyclist, Rosember Lopez-Martinez, was hit from behind and later pronounced dead at the scene. Bluffton police tell us Ryan Cudlip turned himself in Sunday morning. He’s charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and involuntary manslaughter. Witnesses say he was drinking earlier in the day, but they don’t know if he was drunk at the time of the accident.
Cudlip will be back in court January 30th. The nephew of Rosember Lopez-Martinez tells NEWS 3 funeral services will take place in Mexico. More tonight at 6.
