Former Deputy Sues Sheriff's Office

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A former Beaufort County deputy is suing the sheriff's office – saying he was fired because he complained about the shoes the sheriff made deputies wear.

The Associated Press reports Lee Harris wrote a letter to Sheriff P.J. Tanner in May 2004. In the letter, Harris stated the shoes were causing foot pain and injuries in officers. He says he was suspended seven months after writing the letter.

The attorney for the sheriff's office says Harris served at the pleasure of the sheriff and was fired for insubordination.
