Where To Recycle Your Christmas Tree

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Dozens and dozens of people who hadn't thrown out their Christmas trees got the chance to get rid of them Saturday – and help the environment.

The city of Savannah held its annual Bring One For the Chipper event. Workers collected trees at seven area locations – then ground up the trees to turn into mulch.

"When it's chipped up, it's easier, it's faster and it goes into the earth and it replenishes the earth from the trees that are already there," says Kim Manigault with Keep Savannah Beautiful.

The mulch will be used for city parks and neighborhood projects. The event is part of the Keep Savannah Beautiful program.

If you live in the Lowcountry, you can get a list of tree recycling sites in South Carolina by clicking here. Those trees will also be used to make mulch. You can pick up a free bag starting on January 12th.
