The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident in Bluffton that left one man hospitalized.
We're told around 9:00 Sunday night, Sheriff’s deputies responded to Shady Glen Mobile Home Park in reference to a report of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, they found a 39-year old Hispanic male victim sitting under a tree in the front yard of 224 Shady Way Circle, bleeding profusely.
Witnesses reported seeing an altercation involving the victim, and four or five men in the roadway on Shady Way Cir. Moments later, several gunshots were heard, and the suspects were seen scattering in various directions, leaving behind the injured victim.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Tracking Team responded to the scene and set up a perimeter around the immediate area to help search for the suspects, but none were ever located.
The gunshot victim was transported via Life Flight to Savannah Memorial Hospital for treatment. His identity and condition have not been released.
A motive for the shooting has not yet been established and investigators are asking anyone with any information about the incident and/or possible suspects to contact the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at (843) 524-2777 or Investigator Sergeant Holmes at (843) 842-4111 extension 257.
