A Savannah neighbor calls NEWS 3 -- upset her neighborhood has gone to the dogs.
She says the stray animals have taken over her yard and street!
"For some reason, the dogs love my yard!" Evelyn Roberts shakes her head.
The catch: Roberts doesn't own any animals.
And the dogs she's met here don't make her want to own any.
"I should be named the professional pooper scooper of Lynah Street, that's how I feel about it," Roberts says.
But it's not their mess she's worried about.
"I'm afraid of being bitten, I'm afraid of my child being bitten! Yesterday I got home from work, there were four dogs in my yard. One was on my front stoop, and when I got out, the dog actually growled at me!"
Roberts repaired holes in the fence - but says it still doesn't keep the animals out.
"He just jumped over, he actually cleared it by a foot!"
She says she's called Animal Control four times since December, but the same strays just keep coming back. We didn't see any animals during our visit, but Roberts insists something needs to be done - the dogs are dangerous.
"Anytime that I pull up in front of my home, which is supposed to be the safest place on earth for me and a dog will not let me in, I'm feeling a little bit insecure."
Animal Control leaders weren't able to meet with us to talk on camera, but told NEWS 3 over the phone that officers never ignore a call, and respond the same day a complaint is reported.
If you see dogs running freely in your neighborhood, you should call Animal Control at (912) 652-6575.
