New poll gauges South Carolina voters' most popular candidates

South Carolinians still have a little time to decide who they will vote for in the primaries.

A new poll shows where voters are leaning:

Of 494 likely democratic primary voters surveyed by telephone in South Carolina, Barack Obama has 42% support from voters compared to 30% for his nearest rival Hillary  Clinton. South Carolina native John Edwards has 15%


Republican presidential candidates have been visiting South Carolina for months. Here's how they stack up among 785 likely GOP voters surveyed:

Arizona Senator John McCain has a 3-point lead at 27%. His closest competition is Mike Huckabee at 24%.


Rasmussen Reports is an electronic publishing firm specializing in the collection,

publication, and distribution of public opinion polling information.


The Rasmussen poll was conducted on January 9.
