This Saturday, the Benjamin Van Clark Neighborhood Association will hold its first Juneteenth Neighbhorhood Fest. This is expected to be an annual event. Juneteenth (June 19th) is considered the date whenthe last salves in America were freed. It's the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. The event takes place June 21st, 11am-6pm at the Benjamin Van Clark Park (formerly Live Oak Park). There will be a resource fair, music, a rummage sale, and a moon bounce for the kids.
