Thunderstorm Damage in Tattnall County

According to the National Weather Service... a thunderstorm which moved through Tattnall county this morning has produced moderate damage around the Reidsville area. Law enforcement along with the weather service report:


Around 1 mile south of Reidsville... roofs were blown off of several homes. Numerous trees are reported down and roof damage was also reported on several mobile homes.


Around 3 miles west of Reidsville... a 50 foot tall pecan tree about 3 to 4 feet in diameter was blown down. An 8 by 10 foot aluminum shed was blown over. Shingles were blown off a porch roof with small hail covering the floor of the porch and parts of the yard. One house window was blown out.


It is to early to determine if this was a tornado or straight line winds.


The damage is estimated to have occured around 750 this morning from a intense severe thunderstorm moving north across the county.
