Restoration work is under way on the Rockefeller Cottage. The Jekyll Island cottage served as a winter getaway home for oil tycoon William Rockefeller in the early 20th century. Jekyll Island Museum curator Gretchen Greminger says the $200,000 project is scheduled to be completed by spring. It's the first time the 1892 home, dubbed Indian Mound by the Rockefellers, has gotten a facelift since the 1990s. Indian Mound is the most famous of the historic Jekyll Island cottages, though the term is somewhat misleading. The Rockefeller cottage is three stories tall and contains 25 rooms. The island held winter homes for some of America's wealthiest industrialists before the state of Georgia bought it in 1947.
