This is a partial list of roads closed in rural SE Georgia counties. WSAV News 3 is still making calls throughout the area and offiicials are out still assessing the situation. Anticipated road problems led four different counties to announce yesterday they were closing schools today. Here's the information we have right now and we'll continue to update this list as more information comes in.
Jeff Davis County:
There are road closures reported. We're still collecting specifics.
Wayne County:
Mostly dirt roads are closed and work has been going on since around midnight.
Appling County:
Several roads closed including:
Buffkin Rd. at Tome Craven, Bill Morris Rd at the creek, Pat Hutto RD from Duke Herndon Rd to Zion church (nearly all of the roads near Zion church are closed),
Bud Miles Rd. from 1 north to IJ Davis Rd, East river Road from the landfill, Dupe Herndon Rd, Bryant Boyette Rd. out GA-15, Ed Harris Rd from Hwy 15 to Sheffield Rd and closed from Homerville Rd. to Jeffery Turner Rd., Patterson Rd., Satilla church Rd. closed at the creek DETOUR to Pretty ford Rd., Buckhead Rd at Zoar Rd, Hutching Rd. is closed at the bridge. Blarney Rd closed at the creek, Pat Louis Rd Closed at the first branch, HWY 212 North about mile marker 19, Antioch Rd closed to Piney Grove church rd.
An Appling County spokesperson says they believe, "a good bit more should be closed but they probably haven't gotten to them yet".
