A new display featuring a 450-pound giant squid is fascinating visitors at the Georgia Aquarium.
The giant squid is part of the Cold Water Quest Gallery at the Aquarium in Atlanta.
It was discovered dead on a beach north of Boston in 1980. Its long feeding tentacles were missing and most of the tips of its arms were broken off.
When it was alive, aquarium workers say it was nearly 30-feet long and maroon in color.
The giant squid is on loan from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC.
