The curtain rises on the Spoleto
Festival USA in little more than a month and its South Carolina
host is gearing up for the internationally known arts festival.
The Spoleto box office opens Monday and organizers say if you
buy there, you can save 10 percent in online processing fees.
On Thursday, General Director Nigel Redden unveils the official
poster for this year's festival.
Spoleto will be staged from May 22 through June 7. It was
established in Charleston in 1977 by the late composer Gian Carlo
Menotti.
This season's highlights include a new production of the
seldom-staged opera "Louise." Spoleto will also feature tributes
to longtime chamber music director Charles Wadsworth as well as an
operetta inspired by actor Peter Lorre.
