Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies continue the search for Fabian Armendariz, 23, of Rincon, who assaulted a Sheriffs Deputy after leading them on a vehicle pursuit early yesterday morning.
Deputies believe that Armendariz may still be in the local area, possibly South Carolina.
A patrol deputy observed a Chevy Tahoe traveling at a high rate of speed and driving reckless when he attempted to make a traffic stop.
After the vehicle was pulled over, and the deputy attempted to block the driver in, he became combative with the deputy and fled into the woods. He was partially tased during the struggle.
Armendariz is facing multiple charges including battery on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and attempting to elude, felony obstruction and reckless driving.
