SAVANNAH, GA (April 26, 2009): Eight people were taken to the hospital after a single vehicle wreck on the Truman Parkway southbound near the Eisenhower Drive exit this afternoon. Two people were ejected and five others had to be extracted by emergency crews. One person was able to escape the SUV on their own. Once at the hospital, everyone, including the 17-year-old driver, was listed with non-life-threatening injuries.
The wreck happened around 2:10 p.m. in the southbound lane of the Truman Parkway. The blue Nissan Pathfinder somehow lost control and rolled before coming to rest in the median. Everyone in the vehicle was transported to Memorial University Medical Center.
Police had the northbound lanes of the Truman closed for about two hours so traffic investigators could assess the scene. One lane of southbound traffic remained open.
