(Savannah, GA) – Last month, Governor Sonny Perdue announced that state funding to school districts would be reduced by the equivalent of three days of salary for certified staff plus an additional reduction of 3%. That amount added up to more than $5 million for SCCPSS.
On August 5th, the School Board authorized the Superintendent to reduce the annual work schedules of all employees by three days and certain administrative staff by an additional two days. Those days are as follows:
For Central Office Administrators (defined for this purpose as persons who are both
scheduled to work a 260 day schedule and who are paid on either the Teacher salary scale or on the Administrative salary scale at pay grade A-5 or above), the five days will be August 25th, November 25th, December 29th, December 30th, and December 3
For School Nurses, those days will be August 28th, August 31st, and the afternoons of October 16th and November 20th (which are half-days for students).
For all staff except School Nurses and Central Office Administrators, the three days will be August 25th, November 4th, and January 4th.
In order to provide for the security of the district’s properties and personnel, a few employees will substitute different days. Those who are impacted will be notified.
The Governing Boards of each of the district’s Charter Schools have the flexibility to select which days their staff will not be required to work and will notify their employees regarding those dates.
