BLUFFTON, SC (August 10/8:30 AM) – The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that occurred late Saturday night at a Bluffton apartment complex. At approximately 11:30 pm Saturday, deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery at Simmons Cay Apartments on Simmonsville Rd. Upon arrival, deputies met with two of the male victims (ages 42 and 45). The two men advised that they, and a third friend (a 43-year old male), were walking home from CVS Pharmacy when they were jumped by two unknown males. The victims advised that as they passed the area between apartments 305 and 401, two men wearing all black clothing came running out from in between the two buildings. The victims told deputies that one of the suspects was armed with a handgun, which he used to strike one of the victims about the head and face. The other suspect began assaulting the second victim, punching him in the head and face with his fists. The third victim fled the scene to get help and was unharmed. After assaulting the two remaining victims, investigators say the suspects stole both victims’ wallets, containing an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects then fled the area on foot, disappearing into the woods near Bluffton House Apartments. The victims sustained minor facial injuries and refused medical treatment. The Sheriff’s Office K9 Tracking Team responded, but were unable to locate either suspect. Both suspects were described as black males between the ages of 20-30, approximately 6’00”, 220 lbs. The men were also described as being of large, bulky, but fit build, and both were wearing black t-shirts, black pants or long shorts, and black baseball caps.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to contact the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at 843-524-2777.
