A Savannah family whose home was badly damaged by fire Wednesday wants to thank those who've come to their aid. The family of nine has had to find another place to stay after their home on Bona Bella Avenue burned late Wednesday afternoon. Investigators have not determined the exact cause of the fire - but believe a lightning strike near the home may have started it. The family says many people have stepped forward to help them. "Brought me back to a smile and you know, my wife's job at the Westin resort - they're, it's like a lot of people I didn't expect stepped in and stepping up and just really helping us because we're with six kids," says Kevin Bentley. Bentley is at Candler Hospital being treated for smoke inhalation after running into the burning home to try to save his dog. The dog did not survive. The only person at home when the fire started - Bentley's 13 year old daughter - escaped unharmed.
