COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina's attorney general and another top Republican say Gov. Mark Sanford's use of state aircraft and travel deserve a closer look.
Attorney General Henry McMaster is asking the state Ethics Commission to check into allegations about Sanford's use of state aircraft for personal and political trips, and his flights on commercial airlines. State Senate leader Glenn McConnell says the commission or state House should look into the travel.
The calls follow Associated Press investigations into the travel and the release of a state senator's probe that claims Sanford broke the law by not using lowest-cost commercial airline seats.
The two-term Republican insists he used the state plane properly. He also says other governors have also used pricier seats.
