Higher education at the University of South Carolina Beaufort has a lot more perks this year, but you have to pay for them. A new dining facility and fitness center opened this week. Both are partly supported by a new fee tacked on to students' bills. If you live on campus, you must pay $850 semester and you get 10 meals a week. If you're a full-time commuter student, you must pay $235, which will give you 30 meals a semester. Both fees include the use of a new workout center. Lowcountry Reporter Holly Bounds dropped by for day two at the dining hall to get a student and administrator perspective on the new plan.
