»  Comments | Post a Comment

He's had memorial services in his hometown, and his military home in Afghanistan.

Wednesday his Naval Academy family got to say goodbye to Captain Matthew Freeman.

Freeman was killed during a firefight in Afghanistan back on August 7th.

A funeral service was held for the Marine Captain a little over a week ago in Richmond Hill.

Wednesday, The US Naval Academy held a memorial of their own for the graduate.

During that service, Freeman's family were presented his Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for meritorious service.

They also received a flag that flew over Afghanistan the day Captain Freeman died.

From there, a marching procession took family, friends and former colleagues on hand through campus, ending at the columbarium with a ceremonial flyover by Marine C130-J aircraft.

Captain Matthew Freeman was just 29 years old.
